Michael Connelly’s THE CROSSING
The Crossing sees Harry Bosch go to work for Mickey Haller. Crossing over from one side of the law to the other. Haller’s usual investigator is out of action and he has a client in desperate need of an ex-homicide detective. Haller is convinced his client is innocent despite DNA evidence to the contrary. Bosch reluctantly agrees to help Haller with the case even though it puts him in opposition with former colleagues. As Bosch digs into the case though it turns out some his former colleagues might not just be the new opposition but might it fact be his case.
Connelly is a master at plotting out his crime novels. He builds the central case of the story piece by piece leaving a single thread for Bosch to pull on. And as Bosch pulls the thread the truth slowly unravels. A masterful display of crime writing that makes me wish I’d be reading Harry Bosch from the beginning.
